Education is the driving force for knowledge, skill acquisition and development.
Investment in education raises the quality and standard of living of a nation.
This paper attempts to explain concept and relevance of 21st century skills in the
acquisition of skills in fine and applied arts in Nigeria colleges of education,
teacher education program and the challenges. The paper recommended ways
forward out of these challenges such as adequate provisions of infrastructure,
proper funding, provision of ICT centers/modern instructional materials and
vibrant staff development to ensure efficient and effective teacher education
programme in Nigeria.
